Thang's is about the only place I go to get boba...and I don't go very often, so I'm no expert. But I really like their avocado boba. A few years ago, I was trying to reduce sugar, so I asked them if they can eliminate it. They used milk instead of whatever base they normally (I realize that milk has it's own sugars too), and it still came out good.
I've been tempted, but never had any other flavor or type of their drinks, but everyone I've been there with has liked their selections. Thang's is clean, brightly lit, and I've only had to wait for my order once when there were other people ahead of me. I'm usually the only one or the first one there. Workers are all very nice, and in my limited exerience, I think the price is a good value. I like that they have a display case with fresh smoothie ingredients on display--those always tempt me to try something new. Parking is free, and usually easy to get--unless there's a lunch rush. -

Inexpensive smoothies and boba in Kalihi, Honolulu...
Thang's is a very popular place because there's free parking, service is efficient, and the beverages are inexpensive.
We went to Thang's at City Square after breakfast at Pancakes and Waffles. The shared parking lot with Kamehameha Bakery, Utage, Young's Fish Market, and Ubae make this a one stop foodie adventure!
Remember to bring cash. The $4.50 for most smoothies includes tax. The Durian smoothie is $6.
During my past few visits, I've enjoyed the Lychee, mango, and pineapple smoothies... all of them were made with fresh fruit and not too sweet.
Come here for a healthy, cool, and refreshing treat! -

Yum! I love that they use fresh fruits for their drinks (and they have a few options for powdered drinks and coffee/others as well), and their prices are very reasonable!
My sister and I shared the Papaya x Milk Tea smoothie with no boba, which was listed as one of the popular mixes. They only take cash, and they give you a number for your order. When we ordered our drinks, we were the only ones in the store, but within the short time they made our drinks, the stores was packed with seven more people! I heard this place was very popular, but didn't expect a line to form in less than two minutes!
Our drink was very refreshing - the papaya and milk tea tastes were both very very subtle, with neither flavor overpowering the other.
You can make your own combinations for $.50 each flavor you add! -

I'm not a big fan of Ube but my husband and children are. I came here with some girlfriend's after eating at Jade. We were stuffed, but the girls were craving drinks from here. My friend shared her Ube Strawberry shake with me (You can ask them to split the cup, but I can't recall if there's an additional fee for splitting). Like I said, I'm not usually a fan of Ube, but their version was so good; creamy and refreshing at the same time. I stop by this place whenever I'm in that part of town even though I'm full because I usually only go to that part of the island to eat at a particular restaurant. I crave this drink every once in a while. I just wish it was closer to home.
Cash only but they do have an ATM machine in store. I have yet to try other offerings because their Ube Strawberry drink is that good. -

Thang's is hands down one of the best all fruit boba places in town!
As soon as you walk in you see 2 cases of fruit displays. The shop is VERY clean and the workers are very welcoming. Heads up- this place gets crazy busy at peak times (lunch & afternoon) but it's worth the wait.
They use real fruits and although there are powder options they will have it displayed and written on the menu about the powder options for some flavors (such as honeydew).
You can combine 2 flavors for $0.50 more which is still reasonable and their smoothie sizes are all one size, large.
And remember, this place is cash only! You really won't be disappointed. This place is cheaper and tastier (in my opinion) than other fruit boba places in town.
Give them a try! You'll enjoy.
